Chesterfield has been in business since 1958. In the past, someone might have found an awning company in the phone book. Today, most people use the internet to research companies, and people expect much more information before making their first phone call. Chesterfield's site provides a lot of pre-sale information, and when someone is ready to call it gives them the option of booking their own appointment time.
In addition to web design, I developed some custom features for Chesterfield's "schedule your own appointment" feature. To maintain reasonable travel schedules for salespeople, when customers book their own appointments the website uses a Google API to find their approximate location based on zipcode. The client is then assigned to a sales zone which has specific days available for appointments. This allows salespeople to minimize the amount of traveling they have to do- all of the appointments for a certain part of the city can happen on the same day.
