I started building websites professionally in the late nineties, completing my recovery from the shock of having woken up one morning as the owner of a degree in liberal arts. Since that first opportunity with a non-profit group, I’ve worked for companies ranging from a Forture 100 company to a startup with a four-person development group. I’m currently putting this range of experience to work for clients as a freelance web/UI designer and developer.
Over the past fifteen years, I’ve spent a lot of time straddling the line between the roles of designer and developer — juggling left brain and right brain work to build usable, functional sites and applications.
Web & UI Design: From initial application wireframes and site mockups through UI and page layout, I've created the visual design and user interface for a number of web sites and applications that put the focus on functionality, usability, and content.
Front- & Back-End Development: Equally – if differently – creative, I’ve done a range development work: building working web pages from design mockups in HTML/CSS; providing user interaction and feedback with Javascript and libraries like jQuery and YUI; and developing full-fledged applications with PHP and MySQL.
