The Illinois Science & Energy Innovation Foundation (ISEIF) funds a range of consumer education efforts around the rollout of the Illinois smart grid. Mightybytes partnered with ISEIF and the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN), a statewide group of community colleges that are growing the green economy in Illinois, to create a fun and educational consumer website that helps Illinois residents learn more about how the smart grid will impact them.
Smart Power Illinois is used as an educational and promotional tool by ISEIF-funded organizations, including Elevate Energy and the Citizen’s Utility Board. The new website features a real-time pricing game and is the only online location for Illinois residents to determine when they are scheduled to get their smart meter, and review factual information about the smart grid. The game is also featured on kiosks across community college campuses throughout Illinois.
